Amalantrah
Amalantrah, The Wizard Amalantrah 729
“The Master Therion was, about this time, in communication with an intelligence who gave the name of Amalantrah.”—Notes for an Astral Atlas
“It is necessary to say here that The Beast appears to be a definite individual; to wit, the man Aleister Crowley. But the Scarlet Woman is an officer replaceable as need arises. Thus to this present date of writing, Anno XVI, Sun in Sagittarius, there have been several holders of the title. … 4. Roddie Minor. Brought me in touch with Amalantrah. Failed from indifference to the Work.”—New Comment, I 15, see also Roddie Minor
“I therefore felt justified in concluding that the Wizard really possessed sufficient intelligence to make it worth my while to listen to him. I hastily recorded the dialogue to that point. My next question inquired his name. He replied “Amalantrah”. I added this up. This time the result was conclusive. Its value is 729. Already he had shown me that I, in my office as Baphomet, was the rock on which the New Temple should be built, and he now identified himself with me through his own name being of equivalent value. There was however so far no link between the Order to which he belonged and the Great Order; 729 is not a significant number in the Cabbala of Thelema.”—Chapter 85
“Crowley took the name BAPHOMET for his own
As Supreme and Holy King of the O.T.O.
But its true etymology mystified him
Until he consulted the Wizard Amalantrah
An entity who spoke to him through
The Scarlet Woman Ahitha.
Amalantrah told Crowley the correct spelling
Was beth aleph vau ayin mem iod tau resh
Which Crowley read as “Father Mithras”
And its value Seven Hundred and Twenty-nine
Was the cube of nine:
Cephas the cornerstone
And the value of “Amalantrah” himself
And it seems that Crowley believed that.”—A Discourse on the Third Article
