Magick, Music and Ritual 13 - To Sic A Goddess 08:48 To Sic A Goddess (Black Lesbian Fishermen) In ancient Greece the hierophant was the priest of the Eleusinian cult who interpreted sacred objects. The Eleusinian Mysteries were initiations and celebrations held every year to honor Demeter and Persephone (associated with the Empress in tarot). As there are no actual spells and magical rights from the Eleusinian mysteries, we had to find something similar to what may have been performed. So we looked to the Papyri Graecae Magicae which contains magical spells, formulae, hymns and rituals from ancient Greece. “To Sic a Goddess” is part of a coercive spell to anger the goddess Selene and get her to destroy another person. It contains a disgusting litany of ingredients for a truly dreadful incense. While most likely not something that was performed at the Eleusinian celebration, we liked it's playful decietfulness and absurd recipe for disaster. I like to imagine it could have been performed, in private, by a jealous woman who may just have been an initiate into the Eleusinian Mysteries… To Sic a Goddess by Black Lesbian Fishermen She is burning for you some dreadful incense Dappled goat's fat, blood, and filth the heart of one untimely death of a dog a woman's embryo, skin of a doe sour wheat husks, salt, and a single onion mastic and myrtle, bay and barley dog-faced baboon shit, crab claws, fig, and fruit pits sage and the egg of a young ibis… she's placed them on your altar! then set fire to juniper sacrificed a mouse, a seahawk, and a vulture!
